Do not disregard when your children have headaches. If parents detect early and take them to treat timely, the chance to cure is higher.
Few people know that the headaches can be the initial manifestation of brain tumor, a form of cancer in children.
Unexplained illness
Brain tumor cancer is the second of the ten common types of the childhood cancers, the mortality rate is very high, 2/3 of cases is children under five years of age.
Currently, the cause of brain tumor is still unknown. However, researchers have identified a number of causing brain tumor such as the effect of the radiation, genetic diseases (multi nerve tumors, cirrhosis of the tubers, etc.)
The treatment of brain tumors is mainly surgical removal of the tumor and conduct pathology tests to know the nature and origin of the histology of the tumor mass. If it is benign tumor, children only need to be monitored for some time after the surgery.
Particularly with a malignant brain tumor or big tumor that cannot be cut off, children need to radiotherapy after the surgery. However, the children under 3 years old cannot carry out radiation therapy because of severe implications on radiation to the children’s brain in a strong development phase.
To early diagnosis of brain tumors:
Parents are often close and take care of children. If children expressed frequent headaches, you need to take them to the hospital to detect diseases early. In addition to headaches, you need to take into account the other children’s unusual signs such as:
- Children often nauseate and vomit in the morning.
- Convulsions or glassy sleepy
- Mood changes and decreased memory
- Sometimes, children say with parents that they do not see clearly.
- Getting staggered, easy to fall
- The head is bigger and grows faster (common in children under 12 month of age).
If parents detect early and take them to treat timely, the chance to cure is higher.
Delayed treatment may make patients die or face the risk of serious sequel such as slow mental and physical development, epilepsy, etc.
