Mouth ulcers are painful sores in the mouth, which appears on the tongue, behind the lips, on the inside of the cheeks, gums etc. These sores can occur either individually or in clusters. They are generally white and yellow in color, bordered by red circles. Pain from mouth ulcer usually lessens in few days and sores generally heal within 1 -2 weeks without any treatment.
Mouth ulcer is also known as aphthous ulcers and canker sores. Mouth ulcers are very painful during brushing teeth, eating and drinking, this leads to difficulty in movement of tongue and lips. Mouth ulcers and cold sores are different from each other. There are main three types of mouth ulcer -
1. Minor ulcer - This ulcer is very common in most of the cases, and can be heal within 7-14 days.
2. Major ulcer - This ulcer is very painful and large in size, this ulcer is also known as aphthous stomatis or as stomatis ulcer.
3. Herpetiform ulcer - This ulcer is very painful in nature and it is caused by infection with herpes simplex.

There are many natural solutions are available in our kitchen to get rid of mouth ulcer quickly within 2-3 days. Try following simple natural home remedies to say bye to painful mouth ulcers.
Honey has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. It can alleviate mouth ulcers, by maintaining adequate moisture, prevents dehydration and it speed up the sores healing process.
Apply 1 tablespoon of honey on the mouth ulcer with the help of fingertips or clean cotton ball. Do not swallow honey immediately, leave it for 4-5 minutes in your mouth, then you can swallow it or spit out. Do this 4-5 times a day; it will take just 2 days to get rid of mouth ulcer. Y you can also use Vitamin E oil and glycerin in the same way to heal mouth ulcers but honey is very fast and effective natural home remedy.
2. Coconut oil with Honey
Add 1 ½ teaspoon of pre coconut oil in the 1 teaspoon of honey and apply this mixture on the sores directly for 30-45 minutes. Repeat this 2-3 time a day to heal sores.
3. Coconut milk
Grate fresh half coconut and extract the milk from it. Add 1 tablespoon of honey in it; if you don’t have honey, then you can use only coconut milk. Take ½ cup of the coconut milk and swish this coconut milk around your mouth for 3-4 minutes, Gargle and spit out. Do this 3-4 times a day. Coconut milk gives soothing effects to sores and helps in healing them.
4. Basil/Tulsi
Basil/tulsi leaves are very effective home remedy for mouth ulcers and it also cures bad breath.
1. Chew 6-8 basil/tulsi leaves properly for 3-4 minutes and keep it in your mouth for more 2 minutes and drink cup of water afterwards. Repeat this 4-5 times a day for fast relief.
2. Take 10 fresh basil/tulsi leaves; make a fine paste of leaves by crushing them with 1 tablespoon of honey. Add this paste in ½ cup of water and swish this mixture around your mouth for 3-4 minutes, Gargle and spit out. Do this 3-4 times a day.
5. Coriander leaves
1. Boil 1 teaspoon of Coriander seeds in 2 cup of water for 3-4 minutes, strain the water and swish around your mouth for 3-4 minutes, Gargle and spit out. Do this 3-4 times a day.
2. Take handful of fresh coriander leaves and mash them. Boil smashed coriander leaves in 2-3 cups of water for 3-4 minutes. Swish this warm mixture around your mouth for 3-4 minutes, Gargle and spit out. Do this 3-4 times a day for instant effect.
1. Take ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder and add 6-7 drops of glycerin in it. Make a fine paste of it and apply this paste on the sores. Leave it for 30-45 minutes and then wash off with water. Do this twice a day for better result.
2. Add ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder in ½ teaspoon of honey, mix well and apply this paste on the affected area for 30-45 minutes. Rinse off with normal or warm water. Follow this twice a day.
7. Salt water
Add 1 teaspoon of salt into glass of cold water (you can add few ice cubes in this water, mix well and use this water as mouthwash. Swish salt water around your mouth for 20-30 seconds, Gargle (for gargle use warm water) and spit out. Salt water is very beneficial in infection and sore healing.
8. Fenugreek
1. Boil 1 cup of fenugreek leaves in glass of water for 5-10 minutes. Strain the mixture and Swish this water around your mouth for few seconds, gargle and spit out. Do this 2-3 times a day.
2. Soak 1-2 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds overnight in glass of water. Strain this water and swish around your mouth for 3-4 minutes, Gargle and spit out. Repeat this 2-3 times a day.
9. Baking Soda
Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and rinse your mouth with this mixture. This will reduce your canker sore and inflammation; it will also give you sparkling teeth.
